Armada FC add Argentinian trio Hoyos, Scaglia, Trejo

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (January 29, 2015) - The Armada FC, Jacksonville’s new North American Soccer League team, announced today the signing of Argentinian trio Bochy Hoyos (BOTCH-ie OY-ose), Lucas Scaglia (SKAG-lee-uh) and Lucas Trejo (TRAY-ho).

The additions of Hoyos, Scaglia and Trejo bring the Armada FC’s official first team roster count to 17. Hoyos and Scaglia join Jaime Castrillón, Marcos Flores, Pascal Millien, Lucas Rodriguez and Nico Zaldana at midfield while Trejo joins Matt Bahner, Nurdin Hrustic, Shawn Nicklaw and Fabricio Ortiz in the defender mix.

"We think these three players can bring a strong level of expertise to our team, especially with the system we are continuing to put in place," said Armada FC General Manager Dario Sala. "I look forward to seeing how they compete and what kind of impact they can make."

Hoyos, 31, brings a wealth of overseas experience to the Armada FC, spending time in Argentina, Colombia, Greece, Peru and Spain. He comes to Jacksonville after spending 2014 with Venezuelan side Carabobo FC. He played for Peruvian club José Gálvez in 2012-13, where he made seven appearances and scored one goal after a 2012 stint in Colombia with Once Caldas.

Hoyos appeared in 18 contests and netted three goals for Peruvian side Unión Comercio in 2011. Before heading to Peru, he spent four years with his father and Armada FC co-head coach Guillermo Hoyos in Greece, playing for second division club Panserraikos (2009-10) and Super League club Atromitos (2007-09). Hoyos spent 2005-07 with Spanish club Palamós after playing 2004-05 with FC Barcelona B and international soccer star Lionel Messi.

A native of Córdoba, Argentina, He also played for his hometown Talleres de Córdoba in 2003 and made his professional debut in 2002 with Spanish club Celta de Vigo B.

Scaglia, 27, comes to the Armada FC after spending 2014 with Croatian club HNK Rijeka and having played extensively in Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Greece and Spain. He made his professional debut in 2007 with Argentinian side Newell’s Old Boys and spent three seasons with the club. From 2010-11, Scaglia played for Greek clubs Panserraikos, Trikala and Kallonis.

He also played for Guillermo Hoyos in Bolivia at Club Bolivar in 2012 and Colombian side Once Caldes in 2012-13. Scaglia also saw action for Colombian club Deportivo Cali in 2013.

Trejo, a 27-year-old native of Cordoba, Argentina, is a product of the Spanish youth system, cutting his teeth with FC L'Escala in Catalonia, Spain. He comes to Jacksonville following a stint with hometown squad Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba in 2014. Trejo also played for Racing de Córdoba in Argentina’s first division from 2012-14.

He also played for Greek Super League club Atromitos from 2007-09, taking the pitch under Guillermo Hoyos in 2007-08. Trejo additionally saw action for Greek second division sides Ethnikos Asteras F.C. and Egaleo F.C. in 2008-09.

The Armada FC expect to make additional player announcements over the next several weeks as it eventually rounds out its full roster by the start of the new NASL season in April 2015.
