Getting to Know the Armada: Matt Bahner

Matt Bahner was a natural athlete during his childhood, growing up exposed to all types of sports.  Soccer eventually became his dominant sport, developing his skills and footwork since the age of four. 

Bahner is still an avid follower of football, basketball, baseball and golf. In fact, he has said if he weren’t playing soccer, he would be playing basketball or baseball professionally.  

Bahner played college soccer at the University of Cincinnati while concentrating on his studies to graduate with a chemical engineering degree. From there, he got an offer from the Harrisburg City Islanders in Pennsylvania, a club in the third division United Soccer League. 

Bahner has been playing professionally for three years and has dreams of playing professionally outside of the United States in addition to representing his country internationally.  

Off the field, Bahner is a pretty normal guy. He is a Manchester United supporter and also enjoys watching The Office and Entourage.

Bahner has an appreciation for all music, but on game days, his playlist is filled with a mixture of electronic and “chill” music.
