The Jacksonville Armada FC announced Monday the signings of two goalkeepers. Brian Holt and Aleksander Gogić, ahead of the 2018 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) season.

Brian Holt comes to Jacksonville from the New York Cosmos. He played three seasons with the team, originally signing on in 2015.

“Brian is an important piece to our style of play. He is one of the best goalkeepers in the country with his feet and is a wonderful shot stopped. He will allow us to evolve our style and take our possession game to another level,” said head coach Mark Lowry.

A four-year starter at Creighton University, Holt set an NCAA record with a .208 goals against average as a senior in 2011, while leading the NCAA with 19 shutouts and a 92.3 save percentage.

In 2014 Holt was a reserve goalkeeper with Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union. He has also competed for two Union developmental affiliates: The Harrisburg City Islanders of USL and Reading United of USL PDL. In 2012 Holt assisted Harrisburg with reaching quarterfinal play in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Gogić began his youth club with the New York Red Bulls Academy before making his way to the Reading U18 Academy and Nike Academy. He most recently played with Fleetwood Town in England’s League One. At only 22 years of age, Gogić will continue to build his experience with the Armada FC.

“Aleks is a young goalkeeper who has a very high ceiling. It will be exciting to see him mature and develop with us,” said Lowry.

More player announcements from the Jacksonville Armada are expected in the coming weeks as the club continues to build its 2018 roster.
